The Three Most Outstanding Families of the Year
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
For Luzon, Mrs. Myrna S. Punay and her family.
A nurse from Batangas, Punay left the country to work in Riyadh in
order to provide a more comfortable life for her paraplegic father.
Now she is the owner of a house and lot, a two-storey residential
building, a construction supply store, a farm and a house rental in
Paranaque. Aside from managing the business, Punay also became increasing
involved in community work. After being hailed as one of the regional
finalists, Punay wants to be an advocate of the OFWs.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
For Visayas, Melchor Caayon and Family .
Caayon from Negros Occidental, feels fortunate because he never experienced
the same predicament that many OFWs went through. He relates that
his children were all achievers with one of them recently graduating
with a degree in nursing. His wife, who has consistently supported
him, also wisely invested his earnings in a taxi business, sari-sari
store, boarding house, and a buy and sell business.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
For Mindanao, Kagim Jajurie and Family.
After his employment in Saudi, Jajurie did not remain idle. In fact,
he became the Secretary of DPWH ARMM. He was also part of the Tulay
ng Pangulo Project. He was constantly involved in community work and
development despite the fact that he can already afford a more relaxed
life given the fact that he was able to invest in farm lands, a six-storey
commercial apartment and a condo unit in Robinson's Place Ermita.
